Most of your favorite characters are coming back!
It just wouldn't be a Toy Story movie without Tom Hanks and Tim Allen as Woody and Buzz Lightyear. Thankfully, they'll be returning, along with Jessie the Cowgirl, Bo Peep, and many of the other toy friends.

Don't Leave When It's Over — There Are Post-Credits Scenes
Many of them, in fact. According to Vox, there are five mid-credits scenes in total (though don't click through to the Vox story unless you want major spoilers for the end of Toy Story 4). We won't give away any of the details here, but we can say that Disney gives you a hint about what happens to some of the characters after the movie is over.

There's a new character named Forky.
And, as you can see from the teaser trailer, he may have some, um, "issues" with the fact that he's more of a craft project than a toy. Does his voice sound familiar? It's Tony Hale, who played Buster on Arrested Development and Gary on Veep.

Forky and Reeves aren't the only newbies.
Meet Ducky and Bunny, two carnival prizes our friends meet on the road. They're played by Keegan-Michael Key and Jordan Peele, and a second teaser trailer riffs off of one of their most popular Key & Peele recurring sketch characters. “Keegan-Michael Key and Jordan Peele, who voice Ducky and Bunny, are two of the most brilliant minds I’ve ever seen,” director Josh Cooley said in a statement. “Of course, they are effortlessly funny, which would be enough. But they are incredible actors that understand story."

Keanu Reeves has a role in it.
Tim Allen let it slip on The Tonight Show that Reeves is in the movie, although he didn't divulge which toy the John Wick star would be playing. It turns out, he's Duke Caboom, a toy modeled after a Canadian stuntman. Allen said the character "a bit of an edge to him." Between this and Netflix's Always Be My Maybe, Reeves is gunning for the best cameo performer of the year.

Patricia Arquette could be on board, too!
Early on, it was reported that Patricia Arquette would be added to the cast as well, as some kind of "hippie mom" to a girl named Harmony. The voice cast is rounded out by returning and new stars, including Annie Potts (Bo Peep), Laurie Metcalf (Andy's Mom), and Christina Hendricks (a toy named Gabby Gabby).

Allen says it's going to be "emotional."
In that same interview, Allen says he got choked up reading the script. "The last scene of that movie, I couldn't even get through it," he told Jimmy Fallon. "I had to turn around from looking at it in the studio, it was so emotional." Considering how heart-wrenching the end of Toy Story 3 was, we're planning on full-on ugly-crying at the end of this.

Rashida Jones stepped away from writing it.
Jones and her writing partner, Will McCormack, were originally tagged to write the script, but the pair left over "creative and philosophical differences." Instead, the studio brought on Stephany Folsom to do the screenplay. Folsom helped write Thor: Ragnarok, so expect some belly laughs in there between the sobs.

The plot involves some sort of a road trip.
So, what are all these new guys doing? The official synopsis says they're hitting the road: "When a new toy called 'Forky' joins Woody and the gang, a road trip alongside old and new friends reveals how big the world can be for a toy." We can also assume from the trailers that there's a search for a lost toy, a trip through a carnival, and a detour in a used/vintage shop. Watch out, world! The toys are coming!

It was directed by a longtime Pixar guy.
After John Lasseter left the movie amid allegations of misconduct, Josh Cooley stepped up as director. This is Cooley's first full-length directorial gig, but he's no stranger to the Pixar family — he even started at the company as an intern! More recently, he co-wrote the screenplay for Inside Out. So when Allen says it's emotional, he probably means it.
