The Olympic flame has been lit and in exactly 100 days, the historic Opening Ceremony for the Olympic Games Paris 2024 will take place down the River Seine. As the countdown begins to this global celebration, there are so many ways to get ready for the Games on Olympics.com.

Paris 2024: Not-to-be-missed milestones

17 April: Surprise ticketing release!
More than 250,000 new tickets have been made available for several sports at Paris 2024, subject to availability and sold on a first come first served basis. Click here for more information.

26 April: Olympic Handover Ceremony
The Olympic Handover Ceremony marks the beginning of the countdown to the Opening Ceremony of the Olympic Games Paris 2024. In a symbolic event, the Olympic flame will be handed over to a delegation from the Paris 2024 Organising Committee at the Panathenaic Stadium before boarding the three-masted Bélem ship headed for Marseille, France the following day.

8 May: The Olympic flame arrives in Marseille
The Olympic flame arrives in France! Thousands of spectators are expected to line the streets as the Olympic torch makes its way from Marseille to Paris. The Olympic Torch Relay will highlight France's beauty and diversity - its history, outstanding panoramas, traditions, talents, creators, and innovators - and announce the return of the Olympic Games to France 100 years after the country last hosted the event.

16-19 May: The inaugural Olympic Qualifier Series - ShanghaiSome of the best athletes in BMX freestyle, breaking, skateboarding and sport climbing will come together for a final opportunity to secure quotas for Paris 2024. The two-part Olympic Qualifier Series begins at Huangpu Riverside in Shanghai, People's Republic of China, with 464 athletes participating in competition.

7 June: Start of the Ocean Relay
The Olympic Torch Relay will follow an epic route that will pass through the French overseas territories. The Olympic torch will depart from Brest and cross the Atlantic, Indian and Pacific Oceans before it reaches six overseas territories: Guadeloupe, French Guiana, Martinique, French Polynesia, New Caledonia and Réunion, before returning to Nice on 18 June.

20-23 June: The Olympic Qualifier Series hits Budapest
The second and final stop of the inaugural Olympic Qualifier Series will take place at the Ludovika Campus in Budapest, Hungary. This marks the final opportunity for athletes in BMX freestyle, breaking, sport climbing (speed, and boulder and lead) and skateboarding (park and street) to secure quotas ahead of Paris 2024.

23 June: Olympic Day
Olympic Day commemorates the founding of the modern Olympic Games. This date also marks the day Paris 2024 announced its bid to host the Olympic and Paralympic Games back in 2015, with events planned to promote Olympic values and sport.
On the same day, the Olympic Torch Relay will mark 100 years since the first Olympic Winter Games by visiting Chamonix Mont-Blanc; the host of Chamonix 1924.

14 July: The Olympic Torch Relay arrives in Paris on Bastille DayNothing could send a more powerful message on Bastille Day than the Olympic Torch Relay weaving its way around Paris and down the Champs-Élysées. The Olympic flame will make its first foray into the capital twelve days before the Opening Ceremony, allowing Parisians and visitors a chance to preview the celebrations to come.

The Starting Line
Olympic Channel’s newest original documentary series The Starting Line was launched on 15 April and features five athletes who are seeking inspiration from the people and places that nurtured their passion, as they pursue their dream to compete in Paris.

Athletes to Watch
This series looks at some of the top European athletes' preparations and background stories ahead of the Olympic Games Paris 2024. Profiles include French fencer Enzo Lefort, Netherlands’ breakdancing prodigy India, Tahitian surfer Kauli Vaast, British BMX rider Kieran Reilly, French kiteboarder Lauriane Nolot, returning German Olympic Champion competing in dressage Jessica von Bredow-Werndl, and French women’s rugby squad captain Carla Neisen.

Teahupo’o Surf Camp
Experience the thrills and spills as seven surfers join an ISA surf camp at Teahupo'o, Tahiti's famed surf spot and the Paris 2024 surfing venue. Determined to conquer the Olympic wave, they face their fears, push the boundaries, and challenge the raw power of nature in this documentary short film.

Skate-a-rama
Olympic Skate-a-Rama is a "skate talk show" hosted by Paco The Skateboard. It features first-hand insights from Olympic skateboarders, including Great Britain's Sky Brown
and Brazilian powerhouse Pedro Barros, about their impressive participation and experience at Tokyo 2020 where the sport made its Olympic debut.

Breaking Life
Breaking will make its hotly-anticipated debut at Paris 2024, so why not discover the world of breaking through the eyes of five young dancers practising this new Olympic sport around the globe. Find out what it means to be a B-Girl or a B-Boy today and what it takes to be an athlete in this emerging art form that is evolving from the streets onto the world’s biggest stage?
